You must try this historically correct, hyson green tea – one of the teas tossed overboard! Elmwood Inn Fine Teas received a commission from the National Archives in Washington to produce a private label tea commemorating one of the pivotal events in the colonies’ struggle for independence, The Boston Tea Rebellion of December 16, 1773. You’ll find it in all the National Park Gift Stores in Boston as well.
Ingredients: Green Tea.
AMOUNT TO USE: Put 1 slightly heaping teaspoon of loose tea for each 7-9 oz/200-260 ml of water in the teapot. Pour 170ºF water over tea. DO NOT POUR BOILING WATER OVER GREEN TEA!
BREWING RECOMMENDATIONS: Steep 3-5 minutes. Milk & sugar are not recommended.
IDEAL BREWING TEMPERATURE: 77ºC/170ºF. Minimum Brewing Temperature: 74ºC/165ºF.ICED TEA PREPARATION RECOMMENDATIONS:
AMOUNT TO USE: To make 1 L/1 QT, put 12 slightly heaping teaspoons of loose tea into a teapot. Pour 1¼ cups/315ml of 170ºF water over tea. DO NOT POUR BOILING WATER OVER GREEN TEA!
BREWING RECOMMENDATIONS: Steep 3-7 minutes. Fill a serving pitcher 1/4 full with cold water. Pour tea into serving pitcher straining the tea. Add ice, top-up with cold water, garnish and sweeten to taste.
IDEAL BREWING TEMPERATURE: 77ºC/170ºF. Minimum Brewing Temperature: 74ºC/165ºF.
